Nurses Support EPA’s Historic Action to Replace all Lead Pipes …

Children born today will face 6 times more heatwaves than children born 60 years ago. At the same time, we know that the climate crisis is a serious child health crisis, with children being disproportionally affected by health-related risks of climate change.

Save the Children International and The Geneva Learning Foundation have launched a free course to help policymakers, health workers and the interested public protect children from climate health risks. Based on Save the Children’s policy brief "“Our common ambition: Prioritising Children’s Health Amidst the Climate Crisis”, the course connects participants with health professionals from over 80 countries to share practical solutions.

With 2.4 billion children facing climate health risks and a massive funding gap ($11 billion needed vs $150 million received), we need immediate action. This course helps participants understand local climate impacts on children and develop actionable responses through global collaboration.

Exciting news from the food systems front! 📰 We're proud to be signatories of the Belém Declaration on Plant-rich Diets, a critical call to action for governments worldwide.

This declaration recognises the powerful, multifaceted role of plant-rich diets in tackling the climate crisis, supporting public health, protecting biodiversity, enhancing food security, and even fostering economic benefits. With nearly all countries prioritising agri-food systems in their climate plans, and recent IPCC reports highlighting plant-rich diets as key mitigation mechanisms, the time for change is now. 🌱

The Belém Declaration urges national governments to create and implement ambitious action plans for promoting plant-based foods. This means concrete measures, from production to consumption, supported by national, regional, and city-level initiatives.

We're committed to strengthening these collaborative efforts to accelerate a global transition to more plant-rich diets through National Action Plans in all UN member states.

Dr. Pathak covered the importance of a planetary health approach to health and reviewed the current state of environmental and climate health in Georgia.

The fight against a corroded, failed oil pipeline

The fight against a corroded, failed oil pipeline is heating up in California, as Sable Offshore Corp. — a Texas-based oil company emboldened by Trump’s “drill baby drill agenda” — is pushing to restart the pipeline and offshore drilling unit behind one of the worst oil spills in state history. Despite immense public opposition, a record-high $18 million dollar fine from the California Coastal Commission, endless legal challenges, and now two court orders halting work on the project, Sable shows no sign of relenting in their reckless plan to turn a profit at our expense.

Through it all, Gov. Newsom has remained silent. Where is he?

Californians deserve a leader who will stand up to Trump’s rollbacks, defend our values, and hold firm on the progress we’ve made to move beyond oil.

But while a Texas-based oil company runs roughshod over state agencies in pursuit of Trump’s “drill baby drill agenda”, Newsom is nowhere to be seen.
